The first annual Gathering of the Juggalos was held in 2000 in Novi, Michigan at the Expo Center. The event lasted for three days with over 7,000 fans in attendance.[1][2] The festival featured performances by such acts as Project Born and Kottonmouth Kings, and Juggalo Championship Wrestling featuring Vampiro, Mad Man Pondo, 2 Tuff Tony, Spice from the WCW Nitro Girls, and Insane Clown Posse, among others.[1]

While Insane Clown Posse was performing on the final night, Violent J asked the juggalos to join him, Shaggy 2 Dope, and Vampiro onstage. About 300 fans rushed onto the stage, overturning crowd control fences. After performing for almost 30 more minutes, the concert was abruptly stopped.[2] The Gathering ended peacefully, but two small fires broke out in the parking lot after the final concert. The fires were quickly put out by the Novi police and fire departments, and no arrests were made.[2]
