Slipknot is an American Heavy Metal band, Formed in 1995. The Band Currently Consists of 9 Members, with 8 Albums under their Belt, Five of Which are Studio Releases, One of Which is a Demo, Another of which is a Live Album and the Other is a Compilation Album.
Slipknot formed in 1995 and underwent several line-up changes following the independent release of their first demo Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. in 1996. The album featured original lead vocalist, Anders Colsefini. Their self-titled, major label debut, Slipknot, was released in 1999, featuring permanent new lead vocalist, Corey Taylor, and was followed by Iowa in 2001 and Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) in 2004. On August 25, 2008, the band returned to release their fourth studio album, All Hope Is Gone, which debuted at the top spot on the Billboard 200 charts. The band has released three DVDs, including Disasterpieces, which was certified quadruple-platinum in the United States.
The Current lineup Consists of Corey Taylor (#8, The Great Big Mouth) on Lead Vocals, Mick Thomson (#7, Mr. Number Seven) on Lead Guitar, Shawn Crahan (#6, Clown) on Custom Percussion and Backup Vocals, Craig Jones (#5, 133, The Silent One, The Killer) on Samples and Synthesizers, James Root (#4, Jester, Peach) on Rhythm Guitar, Chris Fehn (#3, Dicknose) on Custom Percussion and Backup Vocals, Alessandro Venturella on Bass Guitar, Jay Weinberg on Drums and Sid Wilson (#0, DJ Starscream, Rat Boy) on Turntables.
Notable Former Members Include Paul Gray (#2, Pig, Ghost) who Originally Played Bass Guitar. He Died of an Overdose in May 2010. Joey Jordison (#1, Powerball, Scarecrow) is also a Notable former Member. He Played Primary Percussion with the Band since it's Inception. He Left Slipknot in 2013 to pursue Future Endeavours. Other Notable Members Include Anders Colsefni, the Original Vocalist in Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat and Donnie Steele, The Original Lead Guitarist, who served as a Temporary Replacement for Paul after his Death.
As stated in Behind the Paint, Violent J thinks the members are Juggalos, although Slipknot has primarily performed for mainstream audiences just like ICP, and has little connection to the Juggalo community.
